An Ideal Husband is a comedic play written by Oscar Wilde, originally performed in 1895. The play explores themes of morality, politics, and social hypocrisy. The plot revolves around Sir Robert Chiltern, a respected politician with a seemingly perfect life. However, his world is threatened when a mysterious woman named Mrs. Cheveley enters the scene and tries to exploit a dark secret from his past. Mrs. Cheveley attempts to blackmail Sir Robert, demanding that he support a fraudulent scheme in exchange for her silence. As the story unfolds, the characters navigate a web of deception, love, and ethics.
