Description

The Babylonian Talmud in Selection is a book by Leo Auerbach, first published in 1944. It is a mid-20th century translation of selections from the Babylonian Talmud, including at least one tractate from each division of the text. The Talmud is the central text of Rabbinic Judaism and the primary source of Jewish religious law and theology. In this book, the author emphasizes in his introduction that the Talmud contains diverse voices, indeed, this is one of the strengths of the Talmud; instead of a monolithic text, it allows for various viewpoints and opinions.
