Description

The Vital Message is a book by Arthur Conan Doyle, first published in 1919. In this follow-up to The New Revelation, Doyle further explores his deep interest in spiritualism, arguing for the existence of life after death and communication with the spirit world.

Written in the aftermath of World War I, the book reflects Doyle’s strong conviction that spiritualism offered comfort and proof of an afterlife to those grieving lost loved ones. He presents his case through a blend of personal experiences, philosophical reasoning, and reported evidence from séances and mediums.

By this time, Doyle — best known for creating Sherlock Holmes — had become a prominent advocate for spiritualism, dedicating much of his later life to its study and promotion. The Vital Message seeks to bridge the gap between skeptics and believers, addressing critics and emphasizing the moral and religious implications of spirit communication.
