About the Author

Alexander Maclaren (1826–1910) was a Scottish-born Baptist minister who spent most of his 45-year ministry at Union Chapel in Manchester. Known in his day as one of the foremost expository preachers in the English-speaking world, he was twice president of the Baptist Union.
