The Treasure of the Lake is a book by English writer H. Rider Haggard, first published in 1926, and part of the Allan Quatermain series. In this installment, Allan hears of the legend of a lost tribe ruled by a magical priestess, and goes in search of a remote holy lake surrounded by tall cliffs. Together with his companion Hans, Allan discovers a land ruled by a huge, pale man with a strange knowledge of future events and a people even more peculiar than the legend describes.
