Description

Three Men on the Bummel is a book by English author Jerome K. Jerome, first published in 1900. It is a humourous novel that was published eleven years after Three Men in a Boat. The book follows the misadventures of three friends - Jerome, George, and Harris - as they embark on a bicycle tour (referred to as a 'bummel') through the German Black Forest. However, their journey is far from smooth as they encounter a series of comical and absurd situations along the way. The book offers a satirical commentary on various aspects of German culture and society, including the differences in social customs, language barriers, and the idiosyncrasies of the local people. As they navigate through the picturesque landscape, the three friends face challenges such as getting lost, dealing with uncomfortable lodgings, struggling with unfamiliar bicycle repairs, and even facing a bout of bad weather. Three Men on the Bummel was written near the end of the Victorian bicycle craze which became a thing after the launch of the two-wheeled bicycle.

This book has 67,360 words, 114 pages in the PDF version, and was originally published in 1900.
