Description

The Three Hostages is a thriller novel by Scottish author John Buchan, first published in 1924. It is the fourth book in the series featuring Richard Hannay. England is at peace after the end of World War I, and our hero Hannay is enjoying the country life at Fosse Manor with his wife Mary Lamington. However, his peace is shattered when a dangerous criminal gang that aims to control people's disturbed and disordered minds, kidnaps three people: Adela Victor, daughter of a wealthy American banker; Lord Mercot, an undergraduate; and Davie Warcliffe, a schoolboy. After Hannay realises the mastermind behind the kidnappings is Dominick Medina, he joins forces with his old friend Sandy Arbuthnot to face this most difficult enemy whose speciality is hypnotism.
