This is volume 39 in the Sacred Books of the East series, and is Part 1 of the Texts of Taoism. This volume includes The Tâo Teh King (Tâo Te Ching) of Lâo Dze (Lao Tsu), and The Writings of Kwang-dze (Chuang-tse) (Books I-XVII). Also includes an Introduction with the following chapters: Was Taoism Older Than Lao-Dze?; The Texts Of The Tao Teh King And Kwang Sze Shû, As Regards Their Authenticity And Genuineness, And The Arrangement Of Them; What Is The Meaning Of The Name Tâo?
