Description

The House of the Wolfings is a fantasy novel, first published in 1889. It is the story of a Germanic Gothic tribe who live in the forest of Mirkwood and who worship Odin and Tyr. Two men are chosen by the tribe, to lead them into war against their enemies, one each from the House of the Wolfings and the House of the Laxings. Thiodolf is the leader of the Wolfings, a man of mysterious and perhaps divine antecedents, whose ability to lead is threatened by his possession of a magnificent dwarf-made mail-shirt which, unknown to him, is cursed.
