The Count's Millions is a book by Émile Gaboriau, first published in 1870. It is comprised of two volumes: the first, Pascal and Marguerite is set in Paris and revolves around the enigmatic Count de Chalusse, his tumultuous household, and the mystery surrounding his wealth after an unfortunate incident leaves him incapacitated.
The second, Baron Trigault’s Vengeance continues the story begun in The Count’s Millions. It follows Pascal Ferailleur, a man driven by a burning need for revenge after a false accusation destroys his reputation, his future, and his chance at love with Marguerite. The novel explores themes of honor, betrayal, and the emotional toll of injustice within a world shaped by social intrigue.
