Description
Alice, The Mysteries is a book by English writer Edward Bulwer-Lytton, that was first published in 1838. The novel picks up the story of Ernest Maltravers, his early love Alice Darvil, and his underhanded antagonist Lumley Ferrers. Having withdrawn from the world after the death of Florence Lascelles, he watches as Ferrers starts a political career of his own. In order to lay his hands on his late uncle's fortunes, Ferrers determines to marry Evelyn, his uncle's ward. However, once more Maltravers gets in his way.
