Description

The Adventures of Ulysses is a book by English essayist and poet Charles Lamb. Originally published in 1808, this is a retelling of Homer's ancient Greek epic poem The Odyssey, albeit a considerably shortened version. Aimed at younger readers, Lamb only includes the journey of Ulysses, summarising episodes in the story in a way that obviously feels lacking when compared to the original, and entirely missing out Telemachus' search for his father. However, for juveniles it works as an introduction to the ancient classics. Apparently it was Lamb's book that first introduced James Joyce to the character of the Odyssey, and was the book that he used when writing Ulysses.

This book has 33,054 words, 50 pages in the PDF version, and was originally published in 1808.
