The Westminster Catechisms
Description
The Westminster Catechisms are two documents, the Shorter Catechism and the Larger Catechism, created in the mid-17th century by the Westminster Assembly in England. They are foundational texts of Reformed Christian theology and were primarily designed for the Church of England, though they have since become central to Presbyterian and other Reformed traditions.
The Westminster Catechisms reflect theological differences that arose during the Reformation, emphasizing doctrines like sola scriptura (Scripture alone as the ultimate authority) and justification by faith alone, which diverge from Catholic teachings.
