Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters, originally published in 1915, is a collection of short free verse poems. Each poem is an autobiographical epitaph of a dead person that lived in the fictional town of Spoon River, named after the real Spoon River that ran near Masters' home town of Lewistown, Illinois. Many of the characters are inspired by real people Masters knew or had heard of. The poems form a story of sorts - of gratitude, of pettiness, of love, and of the histories of their lives.
This book has 223 pages in the PDF version, and was originally published in 1915.
