Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters, originally published in 1915, is a collection of short free verse poems. Each poem is an autobiographical epitaph of a dead person that lived in the fictional town of Spoon River, named after the real Spoon River that ran near Masters' home town of Lewistown, Illinois. Many of the characters are inspired by real people Masters knew or had heard of. The poems form a story of sorts - of gratitude, of pettiness, of love, and of the histories of their lives.
This book has 223 pages in the PDF version, and was originally published in 1915.

I run this site entirely on my own and spend a lot of time (and money) doing so. I love formatting the books and offering them for free, but need some support from you, the readers. Every week, around 30,000 people download books from my site, and on average, I get about 7 donations from that. Please support the site with a small donation using the PayPal or Stripe buttons below. You don't need an account and it only takes a minute. Any amount is really appreciated.
