Description

The Sleeper Awakes, a science fiction novel by H. G. Wells, is the story of a man who wakes up after sleeping for 203 years. The London he knows has been completely transformed and while he has been sleeping, his savings have been accruing interest and he finds that he is now the richest man in the world. With themes of socialism and revolution, the man sees a future where the elite treats the working class horribly, but keeps them in check with technology and 'pleasure cities'; a concept that would later be esplored in Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World', and George Orwell's 1984.

This book has 228 pages in the PDF version, and was originally published in 1899.
