Description

The Amazons is a book by Guy Cadogan Rothery, first published in 1910. It explores the legend of the Amazons, who were portrayed in Greek mythology as female warriors and hunters, with the first Amazon queen being the offspring of Ares, the god of war, and Harmonia, the nymph. Despite there being little documentary proof of them actually having existed, the legends surrounding them were extremely consistent across three continents. They are also mentioned in Homer's epic poem about the Trojan war, The Iliad. Chapters in the book include: The Amazons Of Antiquity; Amazons In Far Asia; Modern Amazons Of The Caucasus; Amazons Of Europe; Amazons Of Africa; Amazons Of America; and, The Amazon Stones.

This book has 58,109 words, 84 pages in the PDF version, and was originally published in 1910.
