Description

Zastrozzi is a novel written by Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, first published in 1810. Written when he was just 17 years old, it is a Gothic tale that revolves around the vengeful character Zastrozzi, an Italian outlaw and criminal mastermind, seeking revenge against the virtuous and moral Verezzi. Zastrozzi, driven by a deep-seated hatred, aims to destroy Verezzi's life and corrupt his soul. The narrative explores themes of revenge, morality, and the consequences of unchecked ambition. Zastrozzi showcases Shelley's early fascination with the darker aspects of human nature and the Gothic literary tradition of the time.
