Description

Zanoni is a novel by Edward Bulwer-Lytton, first published in 1842. The story follows the life of Zanoni, a mysterious and powerful being who is one of the Immortals, a group of individuals who have achieved immortality through the pursuit of spiritual and occult knowledge. The novel explores themes of love, sacrifice, and the nature of reality. Zanoni is torn between his love for a mortal woman, Viola, and his duty as an Immortal. The novel also features other characters with supernatural abilities, including Zanoni's fellow Immortals, Mejnour and Glyndon. It is Zanoni's ultimate sacrifice that would give Bulwer-Lytton's friend Charles Dickens an idea on how to end A Tale of Two Cities.
