Description

Pagan Regeneration is a book by Harold R. Willoughby, first published in 1929. Subtitled 'A Study of Mystery Initiations in the Graeco-Roman World', this work uses classical historical methodology to give a profound exposé of the ancient religions of Rome and Greece. The author seeks to answer why and how, when Judaism and Christianity are distinctly unmystical, did Pauline mysticism come to be, with its initiations of regeneration, etc. In doing so, he relies heavily on a wide variety of ancient primary sources. His work aims to reveal what can be known of the mysteries and secret rites of these ancient religions.
