A volume of papers which originally appeared in the Nineteenth Century in the British Medical Journal. Its chief purpose is to show that 'hypnotism, when it is not a pernicious fraud, is a mere futility, which should have no place in the life of those who have work to do in the world.' Dr. Hart looks upon spiritualism, mesmerism, faith cure, etc., as examples of false science, on a slender basis of physiological and pathological facts.
