Apocrypha Arabica

Description

Apocrypha Arabica is a book by Margaret Dunlop Gibson, first published in 1901. The text is a transcription and translation of an Arabic Christian manuscript discovered by Gibson in 1893. It includes a little-known apocryphal text, 'The Book of the Rolls', a retelling of early Biblical events; and stories of Aphikia, a virtuous woman from the time of King Solomon. The printed version of this book contains a third text, Cyprian and Justa, in Greek and Arabic versions. These texts are not included here. Both the author and her sister (Agnes Smith Lewis) were Arabic, Christian Palestinian Aramaic, and Syriac language scholars and travellers who learned more than twelve languages between them.

This book has 26,936 words, 35 pages in the PDF version, and was originally published in 1901.
