Description

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is the 6th book in the Extraordinary Voyages Series, and has become a classic of the sci-fi genre. Set in the year 1866, Professor Aronnax, his manservant Conseil, and whaler Ned Land, join an expedition to find and destroy a mysterious sea monster that has been sighted by various ships. After a five month search, they find the monster; it attacks the ship, and all three are thrown overboard. There, they make the startling discovery that the 'sea monster' is in fact a vessel; a futuristic submarine called the Nautilus, manned by the mysterious Captain Nemo. They are captured and taken on board, and the rest of the story tells of their adventures whilst there. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea comes after In Search of the Castaways, and is followed by All Around the Moon.
